A Letter from the Editor-in-Chief

Dear Colleague,

Thank you — from the bottom of my heart — for taking the time to consider contributing to or partnering with The Baltimore Ledger. The fact that you are reading these words tells me something important: you believe, as I do, that the mental health professions deserve a serious, independent editorial voice. That means more to me than I can adequately express.

I founded The Baltimore Ledger out of a conviction that our field — counseling, psychotherapy, supervision, family therapy, clinical education, and the whole of the mental health enterprise — has earned a home of its own. Not a newsletter. Not a blog. Not a trade circular. A newspaper — one built on the values of intellectual rigor, clinical honesty, and genuine engagement with the ideas that shape what we do in the consulting room, in the classroom, and in the policy arena.

We are in the early and exciting stages of this work, and that means every voice matters. Whether you are a seasoned clinician with a perspective that has been waiting for the right outlet, a counselor educator who wants to engage a broader audience, a researcher with findings that deserve more than a journal abstract, or an organization that shares our commitment to the public good — there is room for you here. I am building this platform to last, and I am building it with people like you in mind.

We welcome long-form articles, editorial commentary, policy analysis, clinical perspectives, and more. Our readers are credentialed professionals who expect depth, precision, and a high standard of argument. We hold every submission to that standard — and we will work with you to meet it.
